Introducing the Editor

Photo3
Christine COLLET is the creator and editor of the “Atelier du Moniteur”.
Wife of a pastor and mother of four children, she has been teaching the Bible to children for many years. She works with children and instructors in different churches, then in the A.E.E. (Gospel and Children’s Association) and provides training for Sunday School and Discovery Club instructors.

In May 2010, the Monitor Workshop was created with the aim of providing instructors with adapted and varied teaching programs and resources. Methods, advice and encouragement are not enough: monitors also need specific equipment.

Bringing the child to salvation, helping him to take his first steps in faith and laying the foundations that will enable him to become an adult bearing fruit for the glory of God: what a great challenge! The Monitor Workshop provides instructors with the tools they need to succeed in their mission. The experiences and skills of some can enrich others: do not hesitate to contact Christine to share your ideas, suggestions, testimonials, etc.

What we believe

1. We believe in a unique God, existing from all eternity in three people: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
2. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God; infallible, it constitutes authority and the only standard for the faith and life of the believer.
3. We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, that he was born of the Virgin Mary, and that he came from the Father with divine nature and sinless human nature.
4. We believe in the person and in the divinity of the Holy Ghost. We believe that he remains in the believer to reveal to him Jesus Christ and the truths of the Bible, to lead him into a life consistent with his teachings, and to communicate to him power and comfort.
5. We believe in the authenticity of his teaching and miracles; we believe that he took upon himself all our sins, that he died and rose bodily; sitting to the right of the Father, he is our mediator and our lawyer.
6. We believe in the return in person of the Lord Jesus Christ to establish his glorious kingdom with all his redeemed.
7. We believe that the human being was originally created without sin. Tempted by Satan, he fell and thus placed the entire human race under the condemnation of an eternal separation from God.
8. We believe that the human being is loved by God, and that he is called to change his life through repentance and to convert to restore a true and just relationship with God and his neighbor. Only his faith in Christ’s work on the cross can save him from eternal condemnation.
9. We believe in the dignity of life and the human body, marriage and family, education and work, as proclaimed and protected by God’s commandments.
10. We believe that the Church is the Assembly of believers who keep faith in Jesus Christ, the witness and teaching of the apostles, beyond denominations, languages or cultures.
OUR MISSION
To provide the monitors, parents, and teachers who communicate the Bible to children, good biblical supports so that children may be led to salvation, supported in their personal process of conversion and encouraged in their spiritual growth, whatever their denomination and culture.

Necessary cooperation

Parents The role of parents

Is it not primarily the role of parents, especially Christian parents, to teach their children in the ways of God? Of course, and it’s irreplaceable. However, they may be failing in this area for a variety of reasons.

The monitor’s mission
If the parents do not fulfill their role in the biblical teaching of their children, the relay is actually passed to the monitor. Its intervention is therefore crucial.

And if, fortunately, for some children, the family offers the best conditions for good spiritual development, the mission of the monitor is nevertheless of primary importance.

His testimony, his teaching, what he does or does not do to help the child to integrate into the Christian community, all his actions will have an impact in the life of the child.

His recognition by the church
Sunday School can be an easily forgotten industry. Taking place outside the hall of worship, it is invisible to the majority of church members. However, the work of which the monitors are in charge concerns the future of the Church and the families. Since it is primarily spiritual in nature, they need to be supported by prayer.

It may therefore be useful to put in place a communication “strategy” to publicize this important work. Here are some ideas:

  • On the occasion of the start of the school year, the team of instructors can be presented at the church,
  • during meetings, always reserve a prayer time for the instructors and for the children,
  • organize children’s interventions at meetings (songs, entertainment…),
  • prepare small gifts with the children that they can distribute to church members at a party,
  • install in the entrance of the place of worship a bulletin board reserved for the Sunday School, visible to all, and presenting the activities of the children, the educational programs, the outings, the missionary involvement, the projects… Add a nice poster saying “We need your prayer!” for example…
